My web design teacher said frames were dead in 2004

He was half right. I wasted hours switching everything to CSS layouts because he said frames would break everything. Then I found this old web directory site last week from 1999 that still uses frames and loads perfectly fine on modern Chrome. The guy running it even has a working guestbook from 2002. Guess frames aren't as dead as my teacher thought - anybody else got a teacher who swore something was obsolete but it still works?

Oh man, frames aren't totally dead but they're kinda like that one guy who still insists on using a flip phone. Strictly speaking they still "work" in most browsers because the spec never really got removed, but they break screen readers, break the back button, and make bookmarking a nightmare. So your teacher was mostly right about moving to CSS layouts for anything new, but you can still appreciate the old stuff chugging along like a time capsule.

Thank you, exactly. Had to update a site from frames last year and it was just a mess of broken bookmarks and people complaining the back button didn't work.
