Rant: everyone says broken links mean a site is dead, but the Geocities page for my uncle's boat shop in Sandusky is still up and I just spent 20 minutes on it
The guestbook hasn't had a new entry since 2004, the last post says "nice page, check out my GeoCities too!" and the hit counter is stuck at 412, but the photo of his 1987 Bayliner and the animated wave GIF are all still there, so go find your own ghost site and tell me what the counter says.

Man, dead links just mean nobody's paying the bill, not that the page is gone.
