That GeoCities fan page for my hometown went from 12 visitor hits to 340 after I fixed one broken image link
I run a little Angelfire style page about the old Roller Dome skating rink in my town, and it sat at 12 hits a week for two years. Last Tuesday I swapped out a dead GIF of a disco ball and added a working guestbook, and now it is pulling 340 hits, mostly from folks in their 40s hunting nostalgia. Does anyone else here see a spike when you fix something small on an old site you forgot you even had?
Wait, saying it went from 12 hits a week to 340 hits is a bit off since those are two different time frames. 12 was your weekly number and 340 sounds like a total, so you might be comparing a week to a month or longer. I only say that because I did the same thing on my old GeoCities page for the local mall and got way too excited about numbers that weren't really the same. Check your stats for a full week and it might be closer to 50 or 60, which is still a huge jump and honestly pretty cool. The disco ball GIF was probably the whole reason people came back anyway.
