The dial-up BBS I dialed into last month still has a 1997 Star Trek RPG running

I bought a USB modem for $12 at a thrift store in Tucson just to see if I could even get online with it. Last Tuesday I found a local BBS that's been up since 1996, and it still has a multiplayer Star Trek text game with 4 active players. I spent 3 hours playing as a lowly ensign and got demoted for accidentally jettisoning the cargo bay. The sysop emailed me a welcome letter that reads like it was written on a typewriter, and it's the most charming thing I've seen in a decade. Do any of you still dial into old BBS systems, or am I the only one who misses the screeching modem sounds?
