A client in Toledo asked me why her mom's pin curls held better than her curling iron, and I didn't have a good answer
She pulled out this old scarf her mom used to wrap her hair in overnight and asked if any of us still do wet setting. Honestly I learned it in school back when we spent a whole week on rollers and pin curls, and now most new clients just want a wand and a quick pass. I told her the truth, that a wet set used to be the normal way to get a wave to hold, not some vintage trick. It made me wonder how many of those old basics are fading out of the newer programs. Do any of you still teach wet sets to your newer stylists, or is it just me holding onto it?
