Bleach on 4C hair came out way lighter than my chart said

Tried doing a full head of foils on a client from Atlanta last Tuesday and used her natural level 2 base, but the 20 volume lifted her to a level 7 in 35 minutes. My swatch book showed level 4 max, so I nearly panicked mid process. Guess the porosity from her old box dye was the wildcard. Has anyone else had a lift chart fail that badly with a specific client type?

Honestly, who checks those charts anyway? I've had them miss by that much on clients with old box dye before, it's basically the norm at this point. If it looks good and the hair didn't melt, you kinda just roll with it and adjust for next time.
