Got a weird trick for fixing split ends without cutting...
I was about to snip off a whole inch off my client's hair last Tuesday until an old mentor told me to try a hot wax dip on just the damaged bits instead of the full cut. It smoothed the splits down flat for weeks and kept her length intact... She literally hugged me after. Has anyone else used wax treatments as a temporary fix for stubborn split ends?

Ha yeah, I used to roll my eyes at anything that wasn't a straight trim. Thought wax dips were just a gimmick for people too scared to cut their hair. But honestly, after seeing how well it held up on her for a few weeks and how happy she was, I'm starting to come around. It's not a cure, sure, but for clients who are really attached to their length, it buys them some time and keeps them from panic-cutting. I guess sometimes a decent bandaid is better than nothing if you know what you're dealing with.

Tbh that hot wax trick is more of a bandaid than an actual fix. The split end is still there, just glued down temporarily with wax. Once you wash it out a couple times or use any heat on it again, those splits are gonna pop right back up. A proper trim is still the only real way to get rid of them for good. Not knocking your method if it works for a special event or something, just saying don't count on it lasting long term.
