Had to pick between two toners after a bleach disaster - went with the wrong one
Last month I had a client with major brass after a bleach session, so I had to decide between a violet toner and a blue one. I went with the violet because it was what I always grab, but her hair had way more orange than yellow. Within 5 minutes she looked muddy and I had to scrub it out and start over with the blue. Cost me an extra 45 minutes and a free conditioning treatment to make it right. Has anyone else messed up a toner choice and learned the hard way about undertones?

Ugh yeah I did that exact same thing with a client last month.

Wait 5 minutes?! That's way too long for a violet toner on orange hair. You basically left it on there to bake into a disaster. I know the panic when you see that muddy mess start to form though. The second you see green or gray streaks you gotta jump on the clarifying shampoo immediately.
