Highlights vs. foils, I finally see the light after 15 years

Back in 2007 I was strictly a foil girl, spending 3 hours on every balayage client with those thick sections and heavy weave. Last month I tried a freehand painting technique on a regular in Austin and it took 45 minutes, she said it looked even softer than before. Has anyone else switched methods this late in their career and felt dumb for not trying it sooner lol?
