I chose the cheap brush set over the expensive one and honestly it's working out fine

After 6 months with a $30 brush set from Amazon versus the $150 brand my coworkers push, I get the same results on blowouts and my clients haven't noticed a difference, so why do we all pretend the pricey ones are mandatory?

Same here honestly. I started with the expensive ones because everyone said they were "better" but my Amazon set is holding up just fine after a year and my clients never complained once. It made me realize a lot of it is just people trying to justify what they spent.

Used to be the person who swore you had to spend big on brushes to get smooth results. My mentor drilled it into me, said cheap ones would yank out hair and fall apart. But a friend left her Amazon set at my station and I tried it out of curiosity. Six months later my own kit is all budget brushes and my work hasn't slipped at all. It really made me question how much of what we're told in this industry is just marketing hype. Now I'm the one telling new stylists to save their money.
