I used to think expensive shears were a waste until I tried a pair in Chicago
Last Saturday I was at a CosmoProf in Chicago and one of the stylists there let me test drive her $400 Hikari shears. I've been using the same $60 pair from a beauty supply store for 3 years. After one cut on a practice mannequin, I ordered a pair on the spot. Anyone else have a tool that made you rethink your whole setup?

Gasped when I read that price. $400 for a pair of scissors? That's more than I spend on groceries in a month. But I guess if they last forever and make cutting easier, maybe it's worth it. My $30 shears feel like junk now thinking about that Hikari quality. Did you notice a big difference in the weight or how smooth they cut?

My buddy Mike is a barber over in Portland and he was the same way. Swore up and down that expensive shears were a gimmick. Then he dropped his cheap pair on the tile floor and it chipped the blade real bad. He had to borrow a pair from the shop owner, some $350 Kasho shears. After one day using them he told me his hands didn't ache at the end of his shift. He ordered his own pair that same week and hasn't touched anything else since.
