Just dropped $300 on a 'professional' steamer that barely lasted a month.

I saw an ad for this sleek-looking steamer that promised to cut my blowout time in half, so I bought it for the salon. It worked okay for a few weeks, then started spitting rusty water and died right before a big bridal party appointment. What's a steamer brand you've actually had good luck with for more than a year?

Oh man, that's a steamer, not a clothes iron.

Honestly, xena642 nailed it with that "steamer, not a clothes iron" thing. @brookewood, I feel you though - I've been in that exact spot where you're trying to decide. For me, it's about what I'm wearing that day. If I'm just throwing on a cotton button-down for a casual Friday, the steamer wins every time because it's fast and I can do it while the shirt is hanging in the bathroom. But if I need to look sharp for a meeting or a date, the iron comes out because nothing beats that crisp crease down the front of dress pants. The steamer just can't handle those sharp lines, it's not built for that. So honestly, I keep both around and grab whichever one matches the outfit and the vibe of the day.

Wait, so what's the actual difference in how they work? Like, my steamer gets out wrinkles on a hanging shirt in two minutes flat, but it can't press a crease into dress pants at all. An iron needs the board and takes longer, but gives that crisp finish. Which one do you reach for more often?
