Just hit my first year renting my own chair in Denver
Last week, a client I've seen since I started at the salon told me she drove across town just to keep her appointment with me. I was still using a shared station back in March, so having someone be that loyal feels pretty good. Anyone else have a moment like that when you went solo?

My first year in my own chair in Austin, a regular from my old booth brought her whole book club in for treatments. That kind of loyalty is the best feeling, it makes all the stress of going solo worth it. I found sending a quick personal text to check in after big color appointments really helped build that connection. It's not about discounts, it's about remembering her kid's graduation or asking how her vacation was. Those small things turn a client into a friend who drives across town.

Last spring, a client from my old shop sent her entire bridal party to me for up-dos before the wedding. I almost cried when they walked in. That personal touch you mentioned is everything. I keep notes on my phone about people's pets, vacations, work drama. Asking about their sick cat or how their mom's surgery went builds way more loyalty than any coupon ever could.
