One client's question made me rethink charging for gel nails

Last Thursday this regular of mine asked why her gel fill takes 45 minutes when the girl at the salon next door does it in 20. I laughed it off but later I kept thinking about it. She's not wrong, I do spend time shaping the cuticle area and making sure the apex is balanced. But I started wondering if clients actually care about that or if they just want fast and shiny. So I asked a few other clients this week and honestly 3 out of 5 said they'd switch for a quicker appointment if it was cheaper. That hit different because I charge $55 and pride myself on the detail work. Has anyone else had to justify their time to a client and started doubting their whole pricing setup?

wait "fast and shiny" really?? that cant be the main thing people want. i get that time matters but 20 mins for a gel fill sounds like theyre skipping half the steps honestly.
