PSA: I thought the 'ice roller' trend was just a TikTok thing for faces

A client brought one to her appointment last week and asked me to use it on her scalp before a color service. I was sure it was a gimmick, but after rolling it on for about 3 minutes, her redness and irritation went down almost completely. It made the color application way smoother and she said her head felt less tight. Now I keep a couple in my station for clients with sensitive skin. Has anyone else tried adding cold therapy into their pre-color routine?

Yeah, I had a client with the same idea last month. Totally blew my mind how much it calmed her scalp down. I use a cold gel pack now for a quick chill before applying any lightener. Makes a huge difference in comfort, way less stinging. Clients with sensitive skin really notice it.

Do you think it works better than a cold gel pack, or is it pretty much the same result?
