Showerthought: I stopped doing a full 45 minute blowout on every single haircut about 3 years ago.

I used to think a perfect, smooth blowout was the only way to show a client their haircut was finished. It was the standard at the salon I trained at in Charlotte. But after a while, I noticed most of my clients were just going home and washing it out or putting it up. I started asking, and a lot of them said they liked seeing how their hair would actually look on a normal day. Now, unless they ask for it, I do a quick rough dry to show the shape and then use a little sea salt spray or texturizing cream to show them how to style it themselves. It saves my wrists, saves them time, and honestly, they book more often because they feel confident doing their own hair. Has anyone else moved away from the full blowout as a default?

Honestly, that 'finished' feeling is worth the time for me.

My barber in Asheville said the same thing last month. He only does the full blow dry if you're going somewhere special right after.
