That one client in 2018 who told me my highlights were too stripey
I had a regular named Diane sit in my chair at the salon in Arlington and she flat out said my foils were too thick and the lines were showing. I had been doing chunky highlights for years thinking that was the look. Took her advice and started doing finer sections and thinner foils, now the blends come out way smoother. Anyone else had a client give feedback that actually made you better?

Man, yeah. That kind of honesty is rare but gold. Most people just don't say anything to avoid awkwardness. I think we're all too polite these days. Nobody wants to hurt feelings so they just let us keep doing things wrong. But the people who speak up? They're doing you a favor. It's like how I'd rather someone tell me my fly is down than let me walk around looking stupid. That kind of feedback is respect, even if it stings at first.

My buddy Dave once walked around a whole work conference with a tag still on his new jacket. Nobody said a word until lunch when the receptionist just pulled him aside and snipped it off. He was actually grateful she did it quietly instead of letting him give that whole presentation looking like a mannequin.
