That 'use a lighter on the foil' trick ruined my client's highlights
A stylist I used to work with swore by heating the foil with a lighter to speed up processing, so I tried it on one of my regulars last month and it left her hair with orange patches that took two correction visits just to tone back. Has anyone else had a shortcut from a coworker backfire this badly, or was I just using the wrong heat settings?

Hair color processes around 20 minutes at room temp, so a lighter is way too hot for foil, you basically cooked the cuticle... try a low heat setting or just skip it and check the hair instead.

My kitchen timer saved more than one bleach job from turning orange.
