Tried a $12 at-home keratin kit on a client's hair and spent 3 hours fixing it
I had a regular with fine highlighted hair ask about smoothing treatments, and instead of booking her for the salon service I tried a $12 keratin kit from a beauty supply spot on her. It said 30 minutes on the box, but her ends started snapping when I ran the flat iron through, so I stopped right there. Spent the rest of the afternoon doing a bond repair treatment and trimming about an inch and a half off. She was nice about it but I comped the whole visit and lost a Saturday. Has anyone found a drugstore smoothing product that won't wreck fine hair, or is this just a lesson I had to learn the hard way?
