Why does nobody talk about the difference a proper consultation makes for color correction?
I had a client come in 3 weeks ago with a botched box dye job that was super brassy. We did a full 45-minute consultation before I even touched her hair, mapping out her history and doing a strand test. The before and after is night and day, and she's booked for a follow-up glaze. What's your go-to question to ask during a color consult that most people might skip?

Forty-five minutes? That's wild.

Yeah, that's a full appointment slot... I used to work in a busy salon and we'd block 15 minutes for a consult. Ask about their goal, check the hair's condition, and get a color formula started while you talk.

Honestly, a 45 minute chat sounds like overkill to me, and I kind of agree with @betty126. Most people just want their hair fixed, not their whole life story. Isn't a quick look at the ends and asking about their last dye job enough?
