Wish I'd learned this curl trick 10 years ago

I used to just rake styling cream through wet curls with my fingers and pray. Finally watched a stylist in Seattle show me how to scrunch upward with a microfiber towel instead. Now my clients get way more defined ringlets and less frizz. Have any of you switched up your application method and seen big changes?

Wait, are you sure that stylist in Seattle got it totally right? Scrunching with a microfiber towel can still cause friction if you're not doing it gently enough. I tried that method and actually got more breakage until I switched to a soft cotton t-shirt instead. Have you ever tried just plopping your hair with a t-shirt for like 15 minutes before you add any product? That step alone made my curls way more defined than any fancy towel or technique.

Wow, really? I honestly never thought about friction being an issue with microfiber, but you're totally making sense now. I was one of those people who bought into the hype and thought microfiber was the only answer... never considered a t-shirt could work better. I'm actually gonna try that plopping method tonight with an old soft tee, see if it changes things for me. Thanks for shaking up my routine, seriously.
