A foreman in Ohio taught me a hand signal I still use daily

Back in 2019 I was on a site near Toledo, and this old foreman named Dale walked up while I was swinging a load. He just pointed at his ear, then tapped his chin twice, and I had no clue what he meant. Turns out it was his way of saying 'stop, listen, then move slow' because the radio was dead and he didn't trust the new rigging guy. I asked him about it over lunch and he drew out like 15 other signals in the dust with a stick. Has anyone else picked up a weird local signal that stuck with them?
