A simple habit that made my crane inspections way easier

I used to rush through my morning checks and miss small things. Now I follow a step-by-step list, and I've had no big problems all year. Do you use any tricks to keep inspections full?

Yeah the "step-by-step list" thing is key. I used to just go by memory and would skip stuff. Writing it down forces you to actually look at each part.

I've found that when I write out each step, it not only keeps me on track but also lets me see where I can combine or simplify tasks. For example, when I was learning to bake, my list showed me that preheating the oven early saved a lot of waiting time. It also helps when you share the list with others, so everyone follows the same process without confusion. Have you tried tweaking your lists after using them a few times?

My old boss had us laminate the checklist and mark each step with a dry-erase marker. That way you can't skip a line, and like @grace565 said, it's perfect for training new guys because they see the exact flow. We even added little photos of problem spots right on the sheet.
