Always thought those old tower cranes in Detroit were rust buckets
Drove through downtown Detroit last week and saw a crew working on a 30 year old Liebherr tower crane. The whole thing was painted up fresh, new cables running. Talked to the foreman for a minute. He said they rebuilt the entire gearbox and put in a new control system. Thing runs smoother than some new ones. Totally changed my view on keeping old iron going. Anyone else seen a rebuild job that good?

Man, that's awesome. It's like finding out your grandpa's old truck has a brand new engine under the hood and can still outwork the new models. Makes you wonder how much perfectly good stuff we throw away just because it looks rough on the outside. Good on that crew for putting in the work.

Yeah, it's crazy what you can save with some fresh paint and new guts. I've seen old machines run for decades with the right care.
