Goofed up picking a chain sling vs a wire rope for a job yesterday

I was lifting a 3 ton steel beam over at the Riverbend site and figured a chain sling would flex better for the awkward hooks. Ended up fighting the thing for 20 minutes while the wire rope woulda just wrapped and lifted clean first try. Any of you guys got a rule for when you switch between them?

Nah, I gotta disagree with you there lol. A chain sling is way more forgiving when you're dealing with hot or sharp loads, and wire rope can kink on you fast if you don't have perfect alignment.
