Heard a foreman say 'watch your tag line' and it clicked

I was on a job out in Bakersfield last week, setting some steel beams for a warehouse. This old foreman, probably 60 years in the trade, just muttered 'watch your tag line' under his breath as I was boomin up. I thought I had it sorted, but my ground guy was pulling at a weird angle and the load started swinging. I stopped, re-adjusted the tag line, and the whole lift went smooth. It got me thinking about how many times I've ignored little tips like that because I think I know better. I've been running a Grove RT650 for 3 years now and I still learn something every week from the old-timers. Anyone else have a moment where a simple phrase from someone changed how you approach a lift?

Yeah, that "watch your tag line" thing really hits different when you almost drop a load... but here's something nobody talks about with those little phrases. They're not really about the tag line or the boom angle or whatever they say. They're about the foreman putting himself in the lift mentally before it even starts. When an old-timer mutters something like that, he's already seen where your lift could go wrong because he's made that exact mistake himself 40 years ago. That's why they never explain more than three words, they're just reliving their own close call and trying to save you from it. The phrase itself is almost irrelevant, it's the fact that they cared enough to speak up at that exact moment.
