Just learned some crane load charts have a hidden safety margin built in
Tbh I was reading through a manual for a Liebherr LTM 1050 last night and found out that most load charts already factor in a 5% safety buffer on top of the rated capacity. That surprised me because I always thought the chart was the absolute max with no wiggle room. Does anyone know if that 5% is standard across all manufacturers or just a Liebherr thing?

Actually caught a YouTube video about this the other day. Some engineer was breaking down how that buffer zone is way bigger than people realize, like a full two seconds of reaction time hidden in there. Makes you wonder how many close calls happen that nobody notices because of it.
