Misread a signal from a temp worker last week
Almost swung the load wrong. Now I make sure to go over basic signals with anyone new on site.

Run through hand signals with every new temp before they lift a finger. I learned from a mistake that almost sent a load the wrong way. Now I have them show me the basics back to me so there's no confusion. It takes no time at all and stops big problems before they start. Some guys complain about the extra step, but it beats cleaning up a huge mistake later. Your plan is solid, so don't let anyone rush you.
