Old foreman told me to skip the daily grease, lost a swing bearing in Tulsa
He swore greasing daily was a waste of time on the older models, said every 2 weeks was plenty. Six months later I'm stuck on a job in Tulsa with a grinding swing bearing and a $4,800 repair bill. Who else has gotten bad advice from a veteran that sounded solid at first?

That kind of bad advice can really cost you. Everybody respects a veteran's experience, but some of them are stuck in their old ways and don't realize things have changed. Sorry you had to learn that lesson the hard way, that's a painful bill.
