Old timer told me to trust the load line, not the screen
Back in 2008, I was running a Grove in a yard outside Tulsa. An old operator named Hank watched me line up a pick using the LCD readout and said, 'That screen will lie to you when the sun hits it wrong. Watch the cable, son.' I shrugged it off. Next week, the screen showed clear, but the load line had a twist that cost us a close call with a steel beam. Hank retired later that year, but I still take a glance at the actual line before every lift. Anyone else find their older coworkers' warnings hold up better than the modern gear?
