That old foreman's line about swinging slow changed my whole setup in Seattle
He told me "the load tells you when it's ready, not the other way around" back in 2011, and after I stopped fighting the pendulum and started feathering the brake 2 seconds earlier on every lift, my pickup times dropped by almost 15% on the 130-ton, has anyone else had a boss drop a phrase that rewired how you run the stick?

...man that hits different because I had a supervisor who told me something similar back in 2013, he said "the machine will tell you what it needs if you stop yelling at it" and I thought he was full of it at first, but then I started paying attention to the slack and the way the load settled, and yeah, it changed everything for me too. It's funny how those old guys just drop a line and walk away like they didn't just rearrange your whole brain. I still catch myself repeating that phrase when I'm having a rough day on the job, it just calms things down in my head, you know? Really glad you shared this because I thought I was the only one who got rewired like that.
