The day I stopped trusting my tape measure on long picks
Back in 2005 I was running a Grove on a high-rise in Tulsa and we did every boom length calc by hand, pencil on a worn out pad. One misread sketch cost me a full afternoon of re-rigging. Now I use the onboard computer and a laser rangefinder, but I still double check with a tape on the ground for anything over 150 feet. Has anyone else caught the computer being off by a foot or two when the temp swings big?
