Unpopular opinion: Today's crane aids are making us forget vital hand signals.
Always double-check signals, new tech can fail when you least expect it lol.

What specific backup plan does your crew have when the aids fail mid-lift? Like, do you immediately switch to only hand signals, or is there a different protocol for radio dead zones or screen glare?

Honestly, if the radios die mid-lift, it's pure chaos for a second lol. We do switch to hand signals right away, but you should see the frantic pointing and waving. The real plan is just to get the load set down safe as fast as possible, then figure out the tech mess. Glare is the worst though, you just have to shield the screen with your hand and hope you can still see the numbers.

Yeah, we always have hand signals ready to go the second comms drop! We practice them every week so it's second nature for the whole crew. Plus, we check for glare and dead zones during the pre-lift walkaround to minimize risks.
