Update: Switched from a standard cab to a full-vision cab on a job in Denver.

The company had me try a Liebherr LTM 1100 with the full-vision setup for a tight downtown lift. The extra glass and lower console meant I could see the load and my tagline guy the entire time, no blind spots. On the previous crane, I was relying on radio calls for half the swing. Has anyone else made a switch like that and noticed a big drop in close calls?

That full-vision cab sounds like cheating. I spent ten years in an old Link-Belt where the only view was a prayer and a greasy window. You could lose a whole spotter behind the console. My near misses probably dropped by half the first time I got a crane with decent glass. Is it even real operating if you can see everything?

Used to think all that glass was for show. Then I had to swing a load blind around a corner and realized maybe seeing the job isn't so bad.
