Working on the new hospital in Denver made me rethink my whole rigging plan

We had to set a massive air handler on the 12th floor roof with almost no room for the boom to swing. The old way of just eyeballing it with ground guides would have been a mess. Now I always do a full 3D lift plan with the site engineer before we even roll a truck out. Anyone else have to change their whole setup for a tight city job?

Honestly, that part about "not having enough room for the boom to swing" hits so close to home. We had a similar nightmare in Chicago where we could barely get a skid steer down a alley between two old buildings. Ngl, I don't think eyeballing is ever worth it on a city job, way too many hidden pipes and wires to risk.

My version of a tight lift is trying to get a new office chair up the stairs without scuffing the walls. I had to take the arms off and everything. Your air handler story makes my back hurt just thinking about it.

Sometimes the old way works fine if your crew knows their stuff lol. @danielgonzalez might have a point about overcomplicating things.
