Picked a $50 Facebook Marketplace "antique" dresser over a new IKEA one - big mistake
I needed a dresser for my spare room and saw this beat up old thing on Marketplace for $50. Looked solid in the photos, figured I'd save some cash and get character. Picked it up last Saturday, got it home, and the whole back panel is particle board crumbled to dust. Had to spend another $40 on plywood just to fix it up so it wouldn't fall apart. Has anyone else gotten burned by buying "vintage" furniture that's secretly junk?

Wait, did you think the same way I used to, where you just assume the best in people? I used to be the guy who'd give everyone the benefit of the doubt, like nah, they wouldn't pull something shady. But then I saw this exact scenario play out with a buddy of mine, and yeah, it changed my whole view. Once you see the pattern, it's hard to unsee how easy it is to get played when you ignore the red flags. Now I'm way more cautious, and I hate that it took getting burned to learn it.
