Bookmark folder from 2011 just redirected me to a gambling site

Was cleaning out my old browser favorites last night and clicked a link I saved for a podcast about cassette tape repair. It now goes to some crypto casino with glittery popups every 2 seconds. Is this just the natural fate of old links, or is there a way to archive these things before they rot?

That "natural fate" part is the key. Yeah, old links rot, but the gambling redirect is actually a WORSE problem than just a dead page. Someone bought that expired domain specifically to catch people like us clicking old bookmarks. I started using the Wayback Machine for anything older than a few years now, and I also copy the text of anything I really care about into a plain .txt file. It feels dumb, but I've lost too many forum posts and niche tutorials that way.
