Found a link that redirects to itself, infinite loop in 5 seconds flat

I was cleaning up bookmarks from like 2018 and stumbled on this old forum thread about homemade guitars. Clicked it, and the browser just kept loading the same page over and over. I counted 5 loops before I closed the tab. The URL had some weird "?page=2" that pointed back to page 1, so every click just bounced. I laughed so hard I almost spilled my coffee. Why do sites even do that? Has anyone else found a self-referencing link that just freezes your whole browser?
