Pro tip: Someone told me my anchor text was spammy, so I fixed it

Last month a guy in the SEO subreddit called me out on my link building. I was using 'click here' and 'learn more' for like every backlink I was buying on Fiverr. He said Google would flag that junk and I laughed it off at first lol. But then I checked my GSC and yep, my site had a manual action for unnatural links. I spent 3 days removing those garbage links and switching to branded anchor text and partial match phrases. It took 6 weeks but the manual action finally lifted. Has anyone else had to rip out a bunch of bad backlinks because of a harsh critique?

Wait three days spent removing links, that must have been brutal manually going through all that junk? I can't believe Fiverr sellers are still selling that kind of trash in 2024.
