Can we talk about ink density settings vs. just buying better ink?

I ran 400 shirts last month with the fancy ink and kept getting blotchy prints, then my buddy adjusted my screen angles and the cheaper ink came out cleaner. Why do we all jump to spending more when the real fix is usually just calibrating what we already have?
