Rant: My friend said custom printing is just for t-shirts and I had to set him straight

I was at a coffee shop yesterday and my buddy saw my laptop open to a mockup for some custom coasters. He laughed and said, 'What, you're printing t-shirts now?' I had to explain that custom printing covers way more, like posters, stickers, and even stuff for his own business cards. It made me think a lot of people don't get how big the field is. Has anyone else had to explain the full scope of custom printing to someone?

Oh man, the "just for t-shirts" thing drives me nuts. My own brother said the same thing when he saw me ordering custom labels for jars of hot sauce I was making. I had to walk him through all the stuff you can get printed now, like branded tote bags for markets or even printed tape for shipping boxes. It's a whole world people don't see until they need something specific.

My cousin in Denver just got custom printed napkins for her wedding, and @faithb74 is right, people really don't see the full picture until they need it.
