Tried a weird paper stock for a client's poetry book and it actually worked
A client wanted a small run of their poetry book printed, but they were on a tight budget. They brought in this paper they'd found online, a sort of rough, unbleached kraft paper that felt more like a grocery bag than book pages. I was pretty sure it would jam my printer or look terrible, but they were set on it. We did a single test page, and to my surprise, the text came out crisp and the texture gave the words a really cool, grounded feel. It made the whole book look handmade and personal, which was perfect for their work. I learned not to judge a material by its look before running a test. Has anyone else had a client bring in their own weird paper that ended up being a great choice?

Sometimes the weirdest stuff ends up being the perfect fit.

Read an article about how some companies hire people with totally random backgrounds for tech jobs. They said those outsiders bring fresh ways to solve problems. Makes you wonder if we focus too much on the "right" experience.
