Why does no one talk about the exact order count that breaks your pricing model?

I run a small shop in Columbus and I hit 2,000 orders in a single month last March. I was happy at first, but then I looked at my margins and realized I actually lost money on about 300 of those jobs. My per-unit price was too low to cover the rush shipping and the extra film rolls I had to buy. I keep asking myself, is growth always good or should I have capped orders at 1,700? Has anyone else hit a number that made them rethink their whole pricing structure, or am I overthinking this? I'd love to hear if you raised rates after a milestone or if you just ate the cost for the volume.
