Appreciation post: A phishing email got me good
I got a message that looked like it was from my credit card company. Clicked the link and typed in my info before realizing it was fake. What's your go-to method for checking email links?

Eh, happens to the best of us. My go-to method is just hovering over the link to see where it really goes, which is boring but pretty much all I do.

Check if the link text looks weird too, not just the address.

Actually used to just check the address bar like Richard said. Then I saw a phishing email where the link text looked totally normal but the actual address was a mess of random letters. That changed my whole view on it. Now I always check the text too, like gibson.karen said. It takes two seconds and saves a lot of trouble.
