I finally figured out why my passwords kept getting stolen
For like 2 years straight I was using the same password for everything. Bank, email, netflix, you name it. Thought I was being clever by just adding a number at the end. Then last month my buddy who works in IT saw me typing it in at a coffee shop and was like "dude you just gave away your login to everyone on this wifi." That got me thinking. I never used a password manager or 2FA either. Took a free course online that explained how easy it is for hackers to grab plain text passwords on public networks. Now I use a different random password for each site and a manager app. Still feels like a hassle sometimes but better than getting cleaned out. Has anyone else had that "oh no" moment about their own security habits?

Yeah my friend had his whole email drained at a Starbucks. Brutal.

Man that coffee shop moment hits way too close to home. Same thing happened to me except it was at an airport bar. Guy next to me literally watched me type my email password in plain sight while I was half drunk on a layover. Felt like the dumbest person alive when I realized what I'd done. Switched to a password manager the next day too. Now my problem is I keep locking myself out of accounts because I can't remember which random string of letters I used.
