I just lost $75 to a fake password manager renewal email

The email looked exactly like the real thing, with my name and everything, so I clicked the link and entered my card details. Has anyone else gotten a convincing fake from a service they actually use?

My security newsletter said these scams often copy real emails but use a slightly off sender address. You have to check the actual email header, not just the display name. It's a scary good trick.

Ugh, that's the worst. I read an article last week saying these fake renewal emails are getting crazy good now. They said you should always go log into your actual account through the main website, never use the link in the email. It's so easy to get tricked when it looks that real though. Sorry that happened to you.
