Just found out my old router had 12 open ports I never knew about
Ran a simple scan on a whim after that security podcast mentioned default settings and discovered I'd basically left the front door wide open for 4 years has anyone else checked theirs yet?

Same thing happened to me last year. Grabbed a utility called Nmap on a recommendation from a sysadmin buddy and it flagged like 9 open ports I had no clue about. The big one was UPnP which is basically a "come on in" sign for malware. Quick fix is to log into the router admin panel, disable UPnP, and set up port forwarding manually for anything you actually need like game consoles or a Plex server. Also change the default admin password if you haven't already, that's the first thing bots try.
