Just realized my smart doorbell was a security hole for months

I finally checked the device list on my home router and saw an unknown connection labeled 'IPCAM'. It was my own doorbell on a default password, broadcasting to who knows where. Anyone have a good method for auditing all your smart home gadgets?

I used Fing on my phone to scan the network and found three devices I forgot about. Changed every default password and set up a guest network for them.

That's a solid move right there. It's crazy how those old smart plugs or random IoT gadgets just vanish from your mind. Putting them on the guest network is smart, keeps them away from your main stuff. Makes me want to go check my own router settings now.

Ever worry about the guest network itself? Like, does it really keep things separate enough if your main devices ever get hit? I've heard some routers don't fully isolate them, so a bad device could still talk to others on that guest net. Makes me wonder if it's just a first step and not a full fix.
