My brother kept telling me to turn on two-factor for my bank account
For a whole year I brushed it off, saying my password was strong enough and it was just a pain. He works in IT and would bring it up every family dinner, like clockwork. Then three months ago I got a text at 2 AM from my bank asking if I tried to send $500 to an account in Florida. I was asleep, so obviously it wasn't me. I called them and they froze everything. The person had my password somehow, but because I finally listened and turned on the text code thing, they couldn't get past that step. It took a full day to sort out new cards and change all my other logins. Has anyone else had a close call that made a security tip finally click for them?

We ignore the obvious until it bites us.

Sometimes the obvious is just a distraction. We might be better off focusing on the less clear stuff that actually needs solving.

The whole "the obvious is just a distraction" thing makes me wonder... what kind of obvious stuff have you seen people get totally sideways on? Like are we talking about a project at work where everyone was arguing over the color of the logo while the pricing model was completely broken? I've seen crews spend days on trim work that nobody will notice while the foundation was settling wrong, and it drove me nuts.
