My home server setup is now more secure and uses less power
I finally got around to updating all the firmware and tweaking the settings. It's running cooler and my electric bill dropped a little.

Seriously, the hidden cost is all the stuff that might break. Those security tweaks can kill remote access you forgot about, or wreck an old script that auto-backups your photos. Now you're spending hours figuring out why your phone won't connect to your own server, all for saving five bucks a month. The power saving is great until it locks you out.

Come on @kevin_roberts41, isn't that stuff pretty rare? (I feel like most tweaks go fine if you're even a little careful.)
